Massachusetts casinos generated around US$65,706 in sports betting revenue on their first day of operations.


Retail sports betting went live in the Bay State on January 31, with MGM Springfield and Plainridge Park Casino both generating revenue.

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission’s January report added that Encore Boston Harbor reported losses of $75,230 in GSWR for the month.

The state has also collected $9,861 in taxes from retail sports betting at Plainridge Park and MGM Springfield so far.

Mobile sports betting is slated to go live in Massachusetts on March 10.

As for the state’s land-based casino operations, the three casinos generated around $96.9m in gross gaming revenue in January.

Encore Boston Harbor’s total slot and table GGR for the first month of 2023 totalled $61.8m and dropped from $68.4m in December.

MGM Springfield, meanwhile, showed a revenue increase from December, the figure rising from $22.4m to $22.8m.
