US$103.04m in gross gaming revenue was generated in December 2023 by Plainridge Park Casino, MGM Springfield and Encore Boston Harbour, according to a report by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.
$60.55m was also generated that month in taxable sports wagering revenue from eight mobile / online sports wagering licensees and the three in-person licensees.
In taxes, the Commonwealth collected $1.623bn from casino operations and $93.87m from sports wagering operations.
All three venues are listed as category 1 sports wagering operators. MGM Springfield and Encore Boston Harbour are category 1 resort-casinos, while Plainridge Park Casino is a category 2 slots facility. These distinctions affect, among other things, the exact amount of taxes paid.
