China opens Hong Kong-Macau border

A boost for the beleaguered Macau casinos – over 5,000 Hong Kong visitors entered the territory last Sunday when the border was reopened.

Around 5,600 entered Macau from Hong Kong as the border opened for the first time in three years. Visitors no longer have to show negative Covid tests on their arrival into mainland China. 

The reopening of the Macau-Hong Kong border and the last restrictions between Macau and the mainland coincided and that brought nearly 40,000 into the territory.
