Some relief for the beleaguered Macau casinos could come from the dropping of mandatory quarantine regulations for visitors from Hong Kong.
Sources inside the industry claim that the mainland will switch to a “zero plus three” policy next month. It means that the mandatory quarantine would be dropped in favour of three days of home-based monitoring.
From today, Hong Kong is lifting its 0+3 system for arrivals, but the Macau end will welcome the decision that it is believed will be implemented from January 9. This is despite this week’s news that Macau recorded 382 new Covid cases.
