American real estate group GLPI has announced that its Hollywood Casino Baton Rouge in Louisiana has received permission from the local gambling authorities to move its operations to a new location.

The new casino is now under construction and should be opened in early 2022, it said. The project will cost between $21m and $25m and will take the business to a landside facility instead of a dockside riverboat venue.

The current casino has 859 slots and 12 tables on 29,000sq.ft. The new facility will have a sports bar and restaurant, with live entertainment and meeting rooms.
