Despite the chaotic political situation in the UK, following Boris Johnson’s resignation, there is speculation that the Gambling Review White Paper – a government consultative document – will be published next week.
Most thought that the political turmoil would push back the release of the white paper until later in the year, but this week there were suggestions that it will still be released in the next few days.
With the fall of Johnson’s cabinet, the new gambling minister, Damien Collins, is not necessarily going to be in office for long – a new prime minister might well replace him.
He is the Member of Parliament for Folkestone, so will be familiar with seaside amusement arcades. But he might be ousted by a new regime that is likely to be in place by September 5.
