The NSW Independent Casino Commission has advised The Star that the second inquiry into the company’s management of its Sydney casino should be held primarily in public.


The inquiry is to be presided over by Adam Bell SC who made the recommendation.

To allow for public hearings to be held, the NICC has also extended the date on which the report’s results is to be delivered to July 31.

“The Star continues to appreciate the opportunity to demonstrate it has the ability to regain suitability and will do all in its power to work cooperatively with all its regulators including the NICC and its appointed manager as well as continuing to participate in the Inquiry in an open, transparent and facilitative manner,” said a company spokesperson.

On Friday March 22, it was announced that The Star Entertainment Group CEO and managing director Robbie Cooke was stepping down with immediate effect, as well as CFO Christina Katsibouba.
