Star’s independent monitor move not approved

The Star Entertainment Group has failed to have a self-appointed independent monitor endorsed to oversee its management activities at its Sydney casino.

The New South Wales Independent Casino Commission has not approved the Star board’s appointment of Allen & Overy Consulting to monitor progress in implementing remediation actions by The Star’s management.

Nicholas Weeks was initially appointed by the NICC following the suspension of the company’s casino licence and A$100m fine.

The Star confirmed that A&O’s appointment is not made nor endorsed by the NICC and that it does not expect the NICC to consider endorsing or approving any remediation program for some time.
