The Spanish gambling regulator has signed a collaboration agreement with Spain’s football governing body to step up efforts to monitor sports betting integrity.
The Royal Spanish Football Federation and the DGOJ signed an agreement at the RFEF’s headquarters in Las Rozas on Tuesday, entering the country’s football governing body into the DGOJ’s SIGMA global research service for the betting market.
The Federation will be able to point out information and alerts about irregular or suspicious betting activity which the DGOJ can act upon.
Pedro Rocha, president of the RFEF’s Management Committee, said: “To be a true example, we must ensure equal opportunities, the safety and protection of all those who play the game and, of course, its cleanliness.
“Working against illegal sports betting means protecting our football and taking care of its cleanliness.”
