Eleven Star Entertainment Group executives past and present are being sued by the Australian Securities and Investment Commission over their failings to control money laundering.

Civil proceedings were initiated against the executives in the federal court on Tuesday for breaches of the Corporations Act in Australia.

ASIC will allege that the Star board did not give enough attention to AML and criminal associations at the New South Wales casino.

The executives all served at the venue between 2017 and 2019 and the group includes former chairman John O’Neill and ex-CEO Matthias Bekier.

According to the ASIC allegations, the group approved Star’s relationship with “criminal links” and ignored evidence of wrongdoing.
