Online boost for Swiss casino group

Despite the Covid-19 year, Swiss casino company Stadtcasino Baden Group made a profit of CHF3.9m (€3.5m), it was announced yesterday.

The result, said the company, was better than it had expected. The profit was 11 per cent more than in the previous year. Gross turnover was CHF105m (€95.7m), approximately 25 per cent above the 2019 figures.

The company operates the Grand Casino Baden, with 100 per cent of the stock, and Casino Davos (pictured), in which it has a 46 per cent holding. It also has the online casinos jackpots.ch and casino777 through investments.

The company said that the results in the brick-and-mortar properties had been lower because of the pandemic, but the online business, in its first full year of operation, was an important contributor to income, compensating for the failures in Baden and Davos.
