The casino will return more staff to work, increase the capacity of fine dining restaurants but limit access to its casino to a restricted number of invited guests. It will operate selected food and beverage outlets within the casino zone of the precinct at up to 50 people per outlet, determined by social distancing requirements.
A Covid-19 Safe Operating Plan was prepared by the venue in consultation with Australia’s leading public health and infectious disease experts. The Star’s 900 staff across NSW and Queensland were furloughed from March but from today the number in Sydney will see around 1,000 return to work.
The Star welcomes an average of 30,000 a day or 11m per year.
