Casinos in Nevada have reached an all-time high when it comes to revenue earnings. July was very successful for the state, with the Strip reaching its best month ever, along with a record slot volume. This week, the Nevada Gaming Control Board released July totals and it shows that gaming win exceeded the $1 billion mark for the fifth consecutive month. Clark County was also able to hit this milestone, as it did in June as well.

A Look at July

In total, casinos in the state earned $1.36 billion from bettors. This was a huge 80% jump from the same month last year. For Clark County, the earnings were over $1.1 billion, and this was an even larger increase from the previous year at over 89%.

The July totals for 2021 were a bit different as there were some casinos that were previously not in operation. Virgin Hotels Las Vegas and Circa are now open and this helped to boost the monthly totals. Senior research analyst for the administration division of the Gaming Control Board, Michael Lawston, pointed out that July was a perfect storm to create a win for casinos.

There were special events and the month had five full weekends. The Resort World venue was also operational for a full month, which helped to add to the totals. Lawton also said that baccarat had a high hold amount which is odd for the region, with international guests playing more than normal.

Events taking place in July that brought more traffic to Las Vegas was a Garth Brooks concert early in the month. Travelers headed to Allegiant Stadium for the event. There was also a UFC fight at the T-Mobile Arena featuring Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor.

On top of that, some residencies in the entertainment sector were back in action. Usher plays at Caesars Palace in the Colosseum while Bruno Marks was featured at Park MGM.

Individual Breakdown

Looking at the individual totals for games helps to break down the earnings for July. Slot machine win came in at over $873 million, which is the highest amount in the history of the state. Players wagered over $12 billion on the slots, which came close to beating a record from a few years ago.

The Strip was super busy at the slots. According to reports, the games in the sector brought in $459.6 million in revenues, defeating the previous record from June of over $363 million. Players were back in full force at the casinos, and it certainly showed.

For sportsbooks, the month was a topper. The win came in at over $33 million and the volume registered more than $409 million.
