UK industry veteran Roy Deeming sadly passed away at the weekend after a hospital stay aged 87.

Deeming made his name in the industry in his years at Direct Machine Distributors with Reg and David Morosoli, but after leaving the company he stayed very much in touch with the industry, after his 60-year involvement.

He passed at the Bournemouth Royal Hospital on Saturday. His funeral will be held on July 27 at 1.30pm at Bournemouth Crematorium. He leaves a son and a daughter.

His background in the industry began with slots manufacturer Aristocrat and he continued in the casino machine business with AGT. He had a spell with Coinmaster in Cardiff and then Auto Roulette before joining DMD. Finally, he was with Crown Leisure and RLMS.

An old friend, David Morosoli, told us: “Roy joined DMD and very quickly became one of the family. He was a sales fanatic and ready to go anywhere at any time in order to make a sale and was never happier than when he returned from a sales trip with orders.

“Roy was a very positive thinker, even when it appeared that a sales proposition was a lost cause. He was a real professional and a great and entertaining character – the industry is the poorer for his passing.”
