Kentucky Derby owner Churchill Downs has announced a major expansion at its Derby City Gaming.
A $76m investment there will include more gaming, an hotel and a new restaurant, says the Louisville company. It will add 135,000sq.ft of new space to the venue with 200 extra gaming positions, rising to 400.
There will also be a VIP gaming space, new sports bar, stage for live entertainment and an upscale-casual restaurant and bar. The hotel will have 123 rooms and the construction will begin early next year with the intention to open early in 2023.
