Brazil gambling outlook bleak

The outlook for legalising gambling in Brazil now looks bleak after President Jair Bolsonaro told Veja magazine he would veto any legislation.

Gaming represents losses rather than winnings right now, he said. The government created a task force specialising in gambling legislation for casinos, sports betting, bingo halls and igaming earlier this month in preparation of potential regulations.

Bolsonaro’s opposition to gambling comes as that task force prepares to present a report on the project to legalise gambling in November.
