The Star Sydney is playing host to the 2019 World Series of Poker International Circuit, with the High Roller event of the stop having recently finished up. The AU$20,000 event saw 53 people competing, with top players in the mix. In the end, it was Jonathan Karamalikis and Ryan Otto in heads-up play with Karamalikis able to pull out the win!

Heads-Up Round:

Once the tournament came down to the final two, Otto would have the lead, with a four to one chip advantage. The blind levels were at 60 minutes, so it would take some time for Karamalikis to chip away at his opponent’s stack, to take the final lead.

According to PokerNews…

It would take Karamalikis almost one full hour to move to a two to one chip deficit before he took the lead. The chip lead would change hands a few more times before Karamalikis would seal the deal.

On the final hand of the poker tournament, Otto would be down to his last seven big blinds when he went all-in. Karamalikis would call of course, but Otto would have the lead showing ace-five with a pair of fives on the 10-9-5 flop. Karamalikis held Q-8 and managed to hit a Jack on the turn to draw a straight and earn the win at the felt of The Star Sydney!

There are still a few events left in the WSOPC in Sydney, including the conclusion of the Main Event, an Omaha tournament and a Bounty. The series began back in November and concludes on December 9th.
