More than 1200 historical horse racing machines are being purchased from IGT by Kentucky Derby horse race owner Churchill Downs, a company that operates over 11,000 slots and VLTs.
The order will see 1,250 of the machines, operating on Ainsworth Game Technology’s HRM (horse racing machine) system, enter service with Churchill Downs. Some of IGT’s top game software will be incorporated into the equipment.
HRMs have been approved by the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission and use the results of previously-run live horse races to generate player outcomes. A number of Churchill Downs’ bricks and mortar venues will use the new machines.
Meanwhile, the governor of US state Kentucky has given approval Churchill Downs to reopen its Derby City Gaming in Louisville from yesterday, June 8.
Derby City Gaming is a racing machine facility in the city with the largest online horse racing wagering platform in the US, TwinSpires.com and operates sports betting and igaming through its BetAmerioca platform in multiple states. Churchill Downs also has a brick-and-mortar casino gaming operation with 11,000 slots and VLTs and 200 table games in eight states.
The company will utilise a wide range of healthy and safety measures in accordance with the Kentucky requirements.
