In the American state of Nebraska and WarHorse Gaming LLC has reportedly broken ground on the Las Vegas-style casino it will be bringing to the existing Horsemen’s Park facility in the city of Omaha.

According to a Wednesday report from local television broadcaster KETV, the move from the enterprise of the federally-recognized Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska comes about two weeks after it commenced building its $200 million WarHorse Casino at Lincoln Race Course venue in the city of Lincoln. Both of these developments are being realized in partnership with the Nebraska Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association some 19 months after local voters approved a measure to allow casino gaming at horseracing tracks in ‘The Cornhusker State’.

Planned premiere:

Lance Morgan serves as the Chief Executive Officer for the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska’s Ho-Chunk Incorporated concern and reportedly revealed that the coming Omaha casino is scheduled to open in 2024 but is to be prefaced by the debut from next spring on the same 63-acre site of a temporary slots-only ‘racino’ facility. The experienced professional also purportedly disclosed that the finished larger development could employ up to 1,000 people with one-quarter of its revenues going to help support a range of tribal programs and initiatives.

Morgan reportedly told KETV…

“We spent a lot of money, a lot of effort, a lot of blood, sweat and tears and here we are, so it’s a big day for us. We have the temporary license so we can get started on construction.”

Main market:

Nebraska is reportedly home to almost two million people with Omaha being its largest city courtesy of a population of approximately 486,000. The Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission regulator was purportedly given the ability in May to confer provisional casino licenses to those looking to take advantage of the midwestern state’s emerging casino scene with WarHorse Gaming LLC being the first to take advantage of this faculty.

Adjacent adversaries:

For his part and the Chairman for the Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission, Dennis Lee, reportedly divulged that the coming Horsemen’s Park casino will aim to bring economic growth to the entire Omaha metropolitan area by siphoning off punters who may normally visit the Horseshoe Council Bluffs Casino, Ameristar Council Bluffs Casino and Harrah’s Council Bluffs Hotel and Casino venues in the neighboring Iowa city of Council Bluffs.

Lee reportedly told the broadcaster…

“We’ve opened up the largest market in Nebraska to casino wagering at licensed horseracing tracks. It’s not just a casino or gambling operation, it’s a destination and the things that the casino operations in Council Bluffs have been able to bring to Council Bluffs and also the Omaha community; concerts, conventions, a destination with a hotel and outstanding restaurants.”
