Seminole compact opponents set back again in Florida

West Flagler Associates and Bonita-Fort Myers have faced a fresh setback in their challenge against the Seminole’s sports betting agreement in Florida.

As reported by the Associated Press, the Florida Supreme Court ruled that the pari-mutuel firms had filed the wrong type of petition to challenge the compact.

West Flagler and Bonita-Fort Myers have continually argued that the compact offers the Seminole Tribe a monopoly on sports betting in the US state.

Late last year, the Seminole Tribe and Seminole Hard Rock revealed plans to roll out craps, roulette and sports betting at all six Seminole Casinos.

The move followed the US Court of Appeal’s ruling in July, where it reversed a November 2021 lower court decision that the gaming compact violated the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act.
