Rocky Mountain Gaming Acquires Minter Holdings Colorado Properties Johnny Nolon’s Casino and Colorado Grande Casino

Rocky Mountain Gaming CC, LLC, entered the final agreements about the acquisition of the operating assets of Johnny Nolon’s Casino with renowned Minter Holdings, LLC. Also, G Investments LLC negotiates the acquisition of the Colorado Grande Casino, also operated by Minter Holdings LLC.

The acquisition:

David J. Minter is in charge of the operations of both Colorado properties. 

The acquisition is almost complete. The only things required are approval of the authorities, as well as the license, which should be issued by the Colorado Division of Gaming.

Rocky Mountain Gaming is a US-based company founded and owned by David D. Ross, Michael J. Gaughan III, and Joseph J. Canfora. Before establishing Rocky Mountain Gaming, Ross and Gaughan worked together at Coast Casinos, Affinity Gaming, and the JW Marriott & Rampart Casino for about 30 years.

The Wildwood Casino in Cripple Creek was also owned by Canfora, who has an impressive experience in the gaming and hospitality industry, with more than 40 years spent in casinos and other facilities. However, the assets were sold to the famous Golden Nuggets in 2022. 

Joseph J. Canfora commented: “I was surprised when David and Michael first approached me with the opportunity to get back into the Cripple Creek market. After thinking about it, I realized that Johnny Nolon’s and Colorado Grande presented the opportunity to maintain the old Cripple Creek casino feel that the locals had grown accustomed to.”

As PR Newswire reports, David Ross thinks that the market has a huge potential. He said: “The Cripple Creek market is growing rapidly with Golden Nugget bringing in an anchor restaurant like Salt Grass and the opening of Chamonix this month. Those two operators, at either end of the town, will help attract new visitors to Cripple Creek, and we think there’s an opportunity for our properties to offer a true locals experience that caters to individuals looking for loose slots and personal service.”

The city with a long history of gambling:

Cripple Creek has a long history of gaming, and both Johnny Nolon’s Casino and Colorado Grande casino are a significant part of it. Furthermore, Johnny Nolon’s Casino is one of the original casinos in the area.

Together, the two casinos have about 400 gaming devices that many players enjoy. There are also seven hotel rooms, as well as a fantastic Maggie’s Restaurant situated at the Colorado Grande. 

At the moment, the only owner of Johnny Nolon’s and the owner of the majority of stakes at Colorado Grande is David J. Minter from Minter Holdings.
