The US state of Nevada generated $1.079bn in gaming revenue in January, growing 41.58 per cent over last year.

While slightly lower than December, that marks 11 straight months of plus-$1bn gaming revenue for the state.

The Las Vegas Strip soared 76.41 per cent to $567.214m on triple-digit growth for baccarat and blackjack, with blackjack benefiting from much higher hold this year.

Blackjack would have grown 43 per cent with the same hold both years. Sports betting handle jumped 71.81 per cent to $1.111bn. Visitation skyrocketed 91 per cent from last year to 2.475 million in January, though that was still 27.5 per cent below 2019 levels.

January also brought higher occupancy, room rates and RevPAR compared to last year as convention attendance continued to slowly return. Convention attendance was 305,300 in January, a substantial year-over-year jump from the 8,600-last year but less than half of the 683,400 in 2019.
