KSA intervenes on TV gambling sponsorship breach

The Dutch Gambling Authority has taken action against an operator which breached the requirements of sponsorship of television programmes.

Kansspelautoriteit said the provider’s logo was not “stated neutrally,” as per the requirements, after it was combined with a game element involving a fruit machine.

The provider in question adjusted the game element in the sponsorship after contact from the KSA.

Sponsorship of television programmes is still allowed until July 2024, when it will be covered as part of the next phase of the Netherlands’ ban on untargeted advertising.

However, the KSA said it will honour TV sponsorship contracts which were signed before the untargeted advertising ban came into force in summer 2023.

Untargeted advertising on TV, radio and in newspapers and magazines is already banned in the Netherlands.
