Kambi Group, a B2B supplier of sports wagering services to licensed B2C gambling operators, has entered into an exclusive long-term partnership with Svenska Spel Sport & Casino, one of the flagship operators in the Swedish regulated market, to launch Svenska’s retail and online sportsbook.
The main purpose of the partnership:
After a ruthless tender process, Svenska chose Kambi for the strength of its premium end-to-end sportsbook product, devotion to maintaining the biggest level of compliance and a proven track record of providing a wide range of operator empowerment tools, involving price differential. Additionally, the deal is projected to have a significant financial effect from the second half of 2024.
Beside Kambi’s modularization policy, the multi-channel deal will also include Shape Games, an affiliate of Kambi, which the aforementioned firm purchased in September of last year for 38.5 million euros, which is approximately 40 million dollar. It will be responsible for equipping the front-end technology for the Swedish-based operator’s newest sportsbook, allowing it to control the overall customer experience and allowing it to stand out from its rivals.
Commenting on the partnership, Kambi’s CEO and Co-Founder, Kristian Nylén, commented according to the official press release: “Svenska Spel is widely recognized as one of Sweden’s most prestigious brands and given Kambi’s strong Swedish roots, I am proud that we have been selected as the operator’s long-term sportsbook provider. As we continue to build commercial momentum and execute our long-term strategy, this partnership is a significant milestone for the business and will enable Kambi to further strengthen its position in one of our core markets.”
Also commenting on the partnership, Shape Games Chief Commercial Officer, Morten Tonnesen, commented: “This is an incredibly exciting new partnership for Shape Games which marks the third former state-owned monopoly we have partnered with. From day one, we have been dedicated to enhancing the sports betting user experience with our leading front end technology and we are really looking forward to working closely with Svenska Spel to deliver something truly unique for its players.” Dan Korhonen, Svenska Spel Sport & Casino Head of Product Sportsbetting, added: “It has been an extensive process. We have evaluated a number of different alternatives and we feel we have found the perfect partner in Kambi. This partnership will further strengthen our offering. We look forward to launch our new Oddset sportsbook next year where focus will be on accommodating our customers on a new level.”
Headquartered in Malta, Kambi offers a software platform with front-end user interface, customer intelligence, quota compilation and risk management. Additionally, it is listed on First North at Nasdaq Stockholm under the symbol “KAMBI.” In terms of the awards, it officially won the “Online Sports Betting Supplier” award at the Global Gaming Awards in London in 2021 and won the “Online Sports Betting Supplier honor” at the 2023 Global Gaming Awards.
Founded in 1997, Svenska Spel came as a result of the merger of Svenska Penninglotteriet AB and AB Tipstjänst.
