There has been a major bid to reduce illegal gambling in Limpopo, the most northern province of South Africa, with raids on venues, seizures of slots and mass destruction of machines.

The Limpopo Gambling Board organised the raids with police support and took 183 illegal slots that were subsequently broken up in a scrapyard.

The raids were accompanied by board chairman Elijah Tijane and CEO Gregory Makolo to oversee operations and talk with the media and other interested parties as the raids were conducted, emphasising the board’s determination to clamp down on illegal gambling.
