This week at GGPoker, the online poker room is highlighting the Short Deck variant via a special tournament series. The week-long event kicked off yesterday and will feature action through February 27, with a total of $1 million in guaranteed prize money on offer.

This variant is one that is not often highlighted in a full tournament series. In the game, every card that is lower than a six is removed, hence the name short deck. Only 36 cards are in play. The game was first played in Macau as a high-stakes option and quickly became a popular variant online and in other countries around the world in poker rooms.

During the Short Deck series, players can take part in over 100 scheduled events. This is a huge opportunity for poker players in general, but especially for those who love this tournament format. Opening day brought on the Short Deck Super High Roller event, which featured a $10,300 buy-in. Shortly after that event got started, GGPoker launched the Short Deck Bounty Super High Roller with $5,250 in prize money.

The Asia Special has a buy-in of $88 and features a $6,000 prize pool while the Bounty event has a buy-in of $52.50 and offers a $4,000 prize pool.

Highlights of the Series

Several events in the Short Deck series will take center stage due to popularity and value. The Short Deck Series 2nd Anniversary event is sure to draw in players with its $1 million prize pool. The series will also offer multiple stacks per buy-in with the GGPoker N Stack feature.
