GGPoker to host special Sunday GGMasters featuring a $150 buy-in and $5 million in prize money

GGPoker’s flagship Sunday GGMasters is a popular event among the online poker crowd. The brand has offered this event for two years, providing an affordable buy-in and solid guaranteed prize money. Coming up next month, GGPoker has decided to reward players with an increase in its guarantee for the event. For the same $150 buy-in, players can compete in the GGMasters on March 20 and try to win a piece of the $5 million prize pool.

Tons of Participation Needed

For the low buy-in event to reach the huge prize pool guarantee, over 36,000 players will need to compete. This number has been reached before, but usually, that type of crowd is pulled in with rebuys or reentries.

With this tournament, it is a freezeout structure, so there are three flights, but only one entry per person. GGPoker knows that this event will most likely have an overlay, so it has titled the event the GGMasters Overlay Edition.

Day one will kick off on March 20 and starting flights will be offered in Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Day two will begin on March 21 and the event will play down to the winner.

Daniel Negreanu, a Global Ambassador for GGPoker, took to Twitter to post about the special event. He stated: “$150 buy-in. $5,000,000 guaranteed. No rebuys. There’s no way this tournament is not going to have an overlay.”

Negreanu also pointed out the value of the event and even said he would shave his head if the guarantee is met by players. And he is right, the value is immense. It will be interesting to see how many players turn out to compete in the big event and if the guarantee is met or if GGPoker will have to come up with the overlay.

History of the GGPoker GGMasters

Back in January 2020, GGPoker launches the GGMasters event. It was its version of a big Sunday event, such as what other online poker rooms offer its players. The tournament started with a $250,000 guaranteed prize pool and moved up to $300,00 and $400,000 thereafter. Eventually, the tournament gained enough ground and appeal that GGPoker could offer the event with a $500,000 prize pool.

The GGMasters quickly became a popular event at GGPoker and players look forward to it each week. The online poker site is now a top choice for amateur and professional poker players alike. Events like this one in March help to showcase the brand even further and bring in a new player base.

For the Overlay event, GGPoker is also going to offer qualifiers soon. The option will start at just $2, providing an affordable way for players to earn a seat at the big event.
