The approaches to Genting to acquire its majority holding in Genting Singapore with its casino were “unsolicited.”

The approaches were not pursued, said the company. Shares in the Singapore company rose sharply at the end of last week on the rumours that MGM Resorts International and others had showed interet. Those approaches were said to be “private.”

Genting Sinapore operates Resorts World Sentosa, an island entertainment complex with 550 gaming tables and 2,400 slots.
