The gambling support charity GamCare has announced the appointment of its new deputy CEO, Mark Weiss, who will be taking on this new role alongside his current position as director of communications and external affairs.
Weiss brings with him over a decade of experience in health policy and communications roles. Prior to joining GamCare in May 2022, he spearheaded all aspects of policy and public affairs for the UK’s largest hospital speciality, anaesthesia, during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Prior to this, heworked across the policy and external affairs function at the UK Faculty of Public Health for over seven years, where he helped to secure a number of significant and high-profile legislative changes and policy commitments.
Since arriving at GamCare, Weiss has been instrumental in driving forward the charity’s external engagement and communications programme and has overseen delivery of GamCare’s response to the government’s landmark gambling white paper, reflecting the views of our lived experience community on how the government could help make gambling safer.
In his new role, he will work closely with Margot Daly, executive chair, in providing strategic leadership and direction across GamCare’s services and will act as an ambassador for GamCare, raising its profile, and that of the people it supports.
