Gross gaming revenue in Q1 across Spain decreased by 2.76 per cent compared with Q4 last year but increased 50.96 per cent from Q1 2022.


The Directorate General for the Regulation of Gambling says €143.36m of the €304.92m in Q1 GGR came from casino, with betting posting €130.6m in revenue in the latest quarter, the second highest of all segments.

Poker accounted for 8.97 per cent of GGR, with bingo and contests offering 1.10 per cent and 0.08 per cent, respectively.

In the casino segment, there was a quarterly revenue rise of 0.64 per cent, but the figure was 29.19 per cent up on Q1 2022’s efforts. Slots showed the highest increasing rate at 31.29 per cent, followed by live roulette.

As for the betting segment, the €130.6m in GGR was 7.65 per cent down from Q4 2022 but up 100.1 per cent year-on-year.

Contests showed the biggest growth of any segment, with revenue climbing 730.4 per cent quarter over quarter. The DGOJ said, though, that the figure represented more “irregular behaviour” in this segment.
