Bally’s has completed the purchase of the site of its new Chicago casino.
The company paid $200m for the Freedom Center, the printing plant that used ot turn out the Chicago Tribune newspaper. It was bought from Nexstar Media Group.
The site covers 30 acres and stands next to the River West. A $1.74bn casino complex will be built on the site. The acquisition was confirmed on Friday evening by Bally chairman Soo Kim.
Bally’s Chicago casino will contain an exhibition hall, a 500-room hotel, 3,000-seat theatre, outdoor music venue, six restaurants and a casino floor with 3,400 slots and 170 table games.
Bally’s will open a temporary casino at Medinah Temple in June. The main new casino will open probably in 2026.
