The latest hot-seat occupant in the ongoing saga of Britain’s gambling review is Paul Scully.
He has been appointed in the new Rishi Sunak government as Under Secretary for Technology and the Digital Economy, a section within the Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), which has responsibility for gambling.
Scully is therefore the man who will oversee the review of the Gambling Act. He replaces the latest short-lived incumbent Damian Collins.
Meanwhile, Britain’s gambling industry is still waiting to hear what the proposals for reform are within the White Paper that will lay out the initial plans. The anticipated draft regulations should have been well into the consultation stages by now, but the upheaval in Britain’s political circles has meant that the release of the document has been constantly put back.
