The recipient of the 2020 Peter Mead Memorial Award for Excellence in Gaming Media and Communications is David Orrick, Merkur Gaming’s director of industry relations.

The announcement of the award was made on the second day of the Global Gaming Exhibition’s virtual experience in Las Vegas by the Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers in its annual awards.

The awards are now in its fifth year and they are given in memory of industry personalities Peter Mead and the late Jens Halle.

Orrick said: “Both Jens and Peter were dear friends who supported me at a time of personal tragedy (the loss of his wife, Ruth, in 2015). These awards keep the memory of these two gaming legends alive.”

The Jens Halle Award went to the late Robert McMonigle, who helped to establish AGEM in 2000 and was its first president until 2005.
