The commission said last week that it had submitted its plans in the white paper and was focusing on four main areas plus the fourth National Lottery licence.

It said that open banking would be used for payments, mostly because of its data sharing qualities.

The commission plans to make more use of data in regulating gambling. Chairman Marcus Boyle (pictured) said that the commission has a three-year strategy for “gambling regulation in a digital age.”

“We are also setting out an ambitious programme to enhance the effectiveness of our regulation. A new data innovation hub will foster the smarter use of data. We will increase the transparency of our work to raise standards in the gamblng industry and we will be creative in disrupting those who seek to operate illegally.”
