According to one research company, Ohio will rocket into the number one position in the rankings of US sportsbook-only gaming states next year.

The state has 25 approved brands and an accelerating consumer appetite for sportsbooks. It also has seven major college and professional teams and 12 million sports fans.

Bonus Index, the research company, says that Ohio will become the biggest state that does not have online casinos but does have sportsbooks.

Other major states such as New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Michigan are also in the highest rankings in the US, but next year will be overtaken by not just Ohio, but also Maryland and Massachusetts.

The state’s bettors have already shown a growing appetite for betting and gaming across the state with rapidly rising land-based casino and racino revenues.
