The licence to operate the Casino Estoril in Portugal will remain with the Ho family for another 15 years.


The casino is one of the most famous of the 11 operating in the country and that at Estoril was originally opened by the famous Macau gambling magnate the late Stanley Ho.

Now, in a new round of licence applications, the family of Ho will retain the concession, along with that of the Casino Lisboa in the capital.

Estoril-Sol, the operating company, signed the contract last week after winning the public tender last year. Spanish operator Bidluck had offered a higher sum for the concession at €86m annually as opposed to Estoril-Sol’s €66m, the authorities had chosen to stay with Estoril-Sol.
