Caesars Entertainment has officially opened Columbus Casino, its temporary gaming facility at Platte County Ag Society Park.

On the morning of June 12, Mayor of Columbus Jim Bulkley joined senior figures from Caesars and Columbus Exposition and Racing for a ribbon cutting ceremony to welcome the first guests.

The temporary facility hosts more than 250 of the latest slot machines and allows players to bet on horse racing at Ag Park’s simulcast at Columbus Casino.

Construction is underway on the permanent Harrah’s Columbus, NE Racing & Casino. It is being built in partnership with Columbus Exposition and Racing, and will boast the longest thoroughbred racetrack in the state.

“Opening the Columbus Casino is a huge milestone for us in the Harrah’s Columbus project,” said Don Ostert, senior vice president and general manager of Harrah’s Columbus, NE Racing & Casino.
