In Japan and Yokohama is reportedly set to host an event later this week that has been designed to give interested parties all of the information they could possibly need in order to help the giant city secure one of the nation’s coming trio of integrated casino resort licenses.

According to a report from Inside Asian Gaming, the first-ever Japan IR Expo is set to kick off on Wednesday from the 287,960 sq ft Pacifico Yokohama conference center and will feature a range of exhibitions and seminars for anyone who is looking to enter the nascent Japanese casino market.

Meet and greet:

Inside Asian Gaming reported that the two-day extravaganza is being organized by the Integrated Resort Yokohama Promotion Council in partnership with local trade show specialist Innovent Incorporated and is moreover expecting to welcome up to 10,000 visitors to enjoy an extensive catalogue of networking and product display opportunities.

Reportedly read a statement from Tokyo-headquartered Innovent Incorporated…

“The immersion of the integrated resort market is starting to become a reality, leading to high demand for trade fairs in the business community. We will be holding an expo with all the products and services essential to achieving a Japanese integrated resort, all under one roof.”

Prestigious participants:

Additionally, representatives from numerous foreign casino operators including the likes of Wynn Resorts Limited, Las Vegas Sands Corporation and Genting Malaysia Berhad are due to attend the Japan IR Expo alongside figures from local technology giants such as Panasonic Corporation, Fujitsu Limited and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation.

Fluctuating future:

Although most gambling is currently illegal in Japan, the coalition government of Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, passed legislation in July of 2018 that is to see the nation of some 126 million people license a trio of Las Vegas-style integrated casino resorts featuring hotels, exhibition facilities and extensive gaming floors. This process could be complete by the end of next year and Yokohama is hoping to win the right to bring just such as facility to a 116-acre waterfront parcel of land near Yamashita Park.
