Fans of classic slots, especially those inspired by Greek Mythology, will be happy with Yggdrasil‘s latest hit, Golden Gorgon. The new title takes players on an aesthetically pleasing adventure where a gilded Medusa-like creature turns symbols into gold rather than people into stone and the max win is €1,000,816!
The 5-reel, 3-row, 25 paylines video slot challenges players to an Ancient Greek showdown in which they try and defeat the powerful gorgon, just like the hero Perseus did, and make off with a load of prizes. And while beating the serpent-like creature is no small feat, players who succeed could be awarded the game’s max win of 2,500x the bet.
No frills gameplay:
Gameplay is straightforward here, with three or more regular symbols lining up from the farthest left reel constituting a win. In ascending order, the game’s seven symbols include uppercase Greek letters Omega, Psi, Sigma and Psi, which are followed by the higher paying shield, sword, and a helmeted hero. Lining up five-of-a-kind of the three picture symbols (hero, shield & sword) across a payline awards 3-20 times the stake. There are only the seven symbols to keep track of and you won’t find any wilds or scatters either.
The one feature you will find is the Golden Gaze. When at least three matching symbols land on a payline, the symbols are turned gold and sticky by the Gorgon, locking them into place. Whatever symbols remain are respun. Landing new symbols of the same type anywhere on the grid locks them into place and an additional respin is awarded. Respins continue to retrigger so long as new winning symbols appear on the reels, or until winning symbols completely fill the board.
Players are awarded a multiplier by filling columns with winning symbols. The value of the multiplier corresponds to the number of columns filled, which you can determine via the indicator below reels 2, 3, 4 and 5. The feature typically occurs during the Golden Gaze respins.
