Worst year ever for Macau casinos

Home » Worst year ever for Macau casinos

Macau’s casinos continue to suffer – gaming revenues fell again in November to less than half of that in the same month last year.

Casino GGR was €360m against €800m in November 2021. In the entire year so far, only one month – February – actually recorded an increase over the same month of 2021.

The six licence holders in the Chinese territory have suffered unprecedented losses since 2020. Covid restrictions and travel lockdowns are at the root of the Macau problems. Tourist numbers are well down, with 2.9 million arriving in October 2021 compared with 580,000 in October of this year.
