Third quarter gaming revenue in the US and Canada jumped to $19.2bn from $5bn in the second quarter as casinos reopened.
However, that was a decline of 20 per cent from last year, Todd Eilers of Eilers & Krejcik Gaming reported. Globally, revenues are expected at $354.2bn this year, according to H2 Gambling Capital. That is down from last month’s estimates of $359.3bn and the pre-Covid forecast of $473.5bn.
US commercial casinos generated 47 per cent of total gaming revenue, while tribal casinos were at 41 per cent. Slot routes were at eight per cent and Canada four per cent, Eilers said.
While gaming revenue generally declined, slot routes rose 10 per cent. Slots accounted for 81 per cent of revenue and table games 15. Igaming and sports betting brought in four per cent of revenue, down from nine per cent in the second quarter.
