Gambling revenues in the US in 2022 hit record figures, according to a report in Forbes.
It said that casinos and mobile gaming apps turned over $54.93bn in the first 11 months of the year. 2022 had already beaten the previous best of $53.04, despite having one more month to be added in.
The 13.5 per cent rise was monitored by the American Gaming Association and does not include figures from the tribal casinos or illegal gambling.
The US has 33 commercial gaming jurisdictions and 30 reported an increase on the previous year’s revenues. The only negatives were in Washington DC where the sports betting market fell by nearly 15 per cent and Mississippi and South Dakota that saw revenues fall by 3.7 per cent and one per cent,respectively.
Most of the revenue was racked up by slots and tables, reaching $43.79bn, up 6.7 per cent on the same 11-month period.
