US casinos still remain outside of the federal government’s Paycheck Protection Program.
Fresh loosening of the definition of those that may take part in the PPP now includes companies with revenues of under $1m, of which less than 50 per cent is drawn from gaming, while the previous limit was 30 per cent.
On Monday a government official said that the aid would be directed at businesses such as taverns that offered gaming, but casinos would continue to be left out.
Bill Miller (pictured), American Gaming Association CEO, said that the criteria remained “woefully short of fully addressing antiquated, discriminatory policies that have, to date, restricted small gaming companies from accessing critical loan support made available through the CARES Act.”
