UK gambling reform not in Queen’s Speech

Home » UK gambling reform not in Queen’s Speech

The reform of the UK’s gambling legislation appears to be on hold after a year of speculation.

The Queen’s Speech to the House of Lords on Tuesday of this week made no mention of any new laws – the speech is the annual list of regulations that Her Majesty’s Government is planning for the following year.

There was one law of interest to the industry, however, with the proposed online gambling regulations. It may have been that this bill, put forward by the DCMS, the government ministry responsible for gambling regulation, that pushed the rest of the gambling issues on to the back burner.

Any changes that may be introduced now would possibly come through secondary legislation.
