Texas may rethink gambling bid

According to The Texas Tribune newspaper, the US state’s legislators are to reconsider legalising casinos and sports betting.

There was a move to legalise gambling in Texas in 2021, but it failed to go through. The new moves are not supported by Governor Dan Patrick, but the lobbyists feel that this time the move will garner more support.

The supporters of the move include Las Vegas Sands, which seeks to establish high-grade casino resorts in the largest cities, and the Texas Sports Betting Alliance, a gathering of sports teams and betting platforms that seek to introduce mobile sports betting.
