Suns’ Devin Booker Replaces Injured Anthony Davis in NBA All Star Game

Home » Suns’ Devin Booker Replaces Injured Anthony Davis in NBA All Star Game

The Phoenix Suns’ young superstar guard, Devin Booker, was chosen to replace the Los Angeles Lakers’ injured power forward, Anthony Davis, in the 2020 – 2021 NBA All – Star Game. This year’s NBA All – Star Game as well as all other NBA All – Star competitions such as the 3 – point contest and slam dunk contest will take place on Sunday, March 7th, 2021. This season’s All – Star festivities will take place from the State Farm Arena located in Atlanta, Georgia which is the home stadium of the Atlanta Hawks.

The decision for Booker to take the place of Davis in the NBA All – Star Game was ultimately made by the NBA commissioner, Adam Silver, and this injury replacement came only one day following Devin getting snubbed by the National Basketball Association’s head coach’s vote on the All – Star reserves. Many people around the league believed that Booker should have been voted in originally as a reserve as opposed to an injury replacement.

Current Injuries

The veteran superstar big man of the Los Angeles Lakers, Anthony Davis, has recently been sidelined and missing game action due to Achilles tendinosis as well as a strained right calf. Davis is not expected to return to the Los Angeles Lakers’ line up until mid to late March of 2021.

Booker’s 2020 – 2021 NBA Season

Since the start of the 2020 – 2021 NBA season which began around the end of last December Booker has averaged 24.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. Along with his veteran point guard teammate, Chris Paul, Devin has helped the Phoenix Suns post an overall record of 20 and 10 as of Thursday, February 25, 2021. That is the fourth best record in the entire National Basketball Association, and this comes to quite a large surprise to many around the league. The last time that the Phoenix Suns sent two players to the NBA All – Star Game was during the 2009 – 2010 NBA season when the Suns were represented by both Amare Stoudemire and Steve Nash.
