Successful third quarter for Philippines casinos

The many private and state-run casinos in the Philippines reportedly had a very positive third quarter as the nation’s aggregated gross gaming revenues increased by almost 21% year-on-year to top $1.08 billion.

According to a report from Asia Gaming Brief citing official figures from the Philippines Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCor), the privately-operated casinos in metropolitan Manila accounted for over three-quarters of the country’s third-quarter aggregated gross gaming revenues with their final combined $829.65 million tally representing a boost of some 23.5% year-on-year. These venues purportedly encompass the City of Dreams Manila, Solaire Resort and Casino and Okada Manila facilities as well as the older Resorts World Manila property and are expected to be joined as soon as 2023 by the $700 million Resorts World Westside City development.

Clark conquest:

Asia Gaming Brief reported that the Philippines’ collection of PAGCor-owned casinos witnessed only a slight comparable rise in their combined third-quarter gross gaming revenues. But, it detailed that this had been more than appeased by the six private venues in the Clark Freeport Zone chalking up a 55.8% year-on-year expansion for the three months to the end of September.

Triple triumph:

The figures from PAGCor reportedly also showed that all of the privately-owned casinos in the Philippines had benefited from an aggregated 15.9% year-on-year uptick in third-quarter revenues from mass-market table games. However, this had been purportedly overshadowed by a 21.2% swell in combined three-month takings from slots as well as an even more impressive 50.4% improvement from VIP games.

Teeming travelers:

Referring to official data released by the Philippines Department of Tourism earlier this month, it was reported that the nation had welcomed approximately 6.16 million foreign tourists during the nine months from January. It explained that this figure had represented an upsurge of 14.4% year-on-year and had been led by a club that included 1.45 million visitors from South Koreans as well as 1.36 million Chinese and 790,000 Americans.
