American casino operator Red Rock Resorts Incorporated has reportedly announced that its President, Richard Haskins (pictured), passed away over the weekend while on vacation in northern Michigan.

According to a report from the Las Vegas Review-Journal newspaper, the firm revealed that 56-year-old Haskins also served as President for its Station Casinos subsidiary and lost his life on Saturday afternoon when his Sea-Doo personal watercraft collided with a 27-foot powerboat in Lake Michigan while travelling at speed off of the northern tip of the state’s southern peninsula.

Maritime mishap:

The newspaper reported that Haskins, who joined Las Vegas-headquartered Red Rock Resorts Incorporated in 1995 to serve as general counsel for its Midwest operations before being promoted to his ultimate post in 2015, had been moving north when his jet-ski contacted the much larger vessel heading west. The executive was purportedly pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders from the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office with local authorities now said to be investigating the incident.

Read a statement from Fertitta…

Words cannot express what Richard has meant to the company and to me in the 25 years he has been with Station Casinos. He was a trusted advisor, a brilliant strategist, a steady hand in good times and in bad and, most important, a friend to all. It is very hard to imagine Station Casinos being the company it is today without Richard. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his children, his family and his loved ones.”
