Station Casinos gets the green light for its Spring Valley casino project

American casino operator Station Casinos has reportedly received approval from Clark County officials to bring a new gambling-friendly development to a 71-acre plot of land it already owns in the southwestern suburbs of Las Vegas.

According to a Wednesday report from the Las Vegas Review-Journal newspaper, the company purchased the site situated at the junction of South Durango Drive and Bruce Woodbury Beltway some 20 years ago with the intention of constructing a modest casino featuring a 201-room hotel tower. Although this plan was later scuppered by the ‘Great Recession’ of 2007, the firm persisted and has now purportedly been given the go-ahead to realize a 211-room venue complete with an 83,178 sq ft gaming floor to be christened as the Station Casino Durango.

Tempting timeline:

The newspaper reported that the Clark County Commission green light means that Station Casinos, which trades as Red Rock Resorts Incorporated, could begin constructing its new casino for the Nevada community of Spring Valley as early as January in hopes of opening the first phase of the enterprise by the end of 2023. The Las Vegas-headquartered operator purportedly detailed that the venue’s initial stage will moreover offer 20,000 sq ft of meeting and convention space, a sportsbook, a pool and a parking garage in addition to water features, four restaurants and multiple charging stations for electric vehicles.

Prior permission:

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that the approval comes less than two months after Station Casinos received similar consent from the five-member Spring Valley Town Advisory Board to build the 216-feet tall structure. The operator purportedly disclosed that the finished development is to furthermore come complete with an ‘event lawn’ as well as a food hall featuring a selection of local fast-casual restaurants.
