Gone are the days when sports bettors could enjoy placing a wager on March Madness or an upcoming MLB game. As the coronavirus began to spread in the United States, professional sports leagues halted their seasons in an attempt to slow down the outbreak. For sports bettors, this means no options for betting. to offer something new, sports content provider, Sportradar, has announced the creation of Simulated Reality, an AI-driven option for professional sports betting.

Simulated Reality:

The new product for professional sports matches will be available to customers within the company’s portfolio of events. As an industry first, Simulated Reality will provide a sports betting experience that is as close to reality as possible, with no need for integration.

The first simulated games will offer pre-match and live in-play betting options, drawing from the historical football database and statistical output from matches used by Sportradar. The simulations will show the team form and normal play during a match to create an advanced experience.

The new option will launch on April 3rd, covering football leagues in the top-tier from Spain, England, and Germany. With the Simulated Reality football games, fans will be able to complete the current football season and wager, with the remaining fixtures playing as scheduled on the original dates and times.

CEO of Sportradar, Carsten Koerl, commented on the new product by stating they listened closely to their customers as well as the betting community who made it clear they want an alternative for betting due to the loss of live sports action.

Koerl stated further: “As market leaders in the industry, we pride ourselves on our ability to quickly pivot our business strategy and redirect our resources towards delivering new and innovative solutions such as this.”

Action Network Deal:

The launch of the new Simulated Reality product comes just a few weeks after Sportradar announced a deal with The Action Network. The two signed a multi-year partnership, with the Action Network to use the data services of Sportradar for their Action Edge premium subscription product.
